Ally is the technology teacher at Arete Academy, who works with a variety of age groups to blend tech learning with collaborative engagement. One of her main focuses is using technology to drive deeper learning in other subjects, primarily those of social learning and development. She also hosts aftercare and several different extracurricular options for students, including Girls in Action, Gaming Club, Days off Class, and Saturday classes.
Ally received a BA in Sociology and an English minor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. During those years, she taught labs and discussion sections at the college level as a Teaching Assistant for the Sociology department. In the near future, she plans on going back to grad school for a MA in Sociology. Her technology background comes from her love of graphic design, art, and video games. For the past six years, she has worked at the iD Tech camps at Macalester College, teaching a variety of different tech classes in app design, game design, web design, and graphic design.
In her free time, Ally enjoys going rock climbing with friends or hitting up the gym. She also is an avid video gamer and goes out to live music concerts regularly. One of her favorite things to do is travel and some spots on her future radar are Seattle, Boulder, and South Korea. She is looking forward to being apart of the team and her first year at Arete!
