Cat is an art teacher who works with all Arete students to explore visual arts and practice self-expression in an engaging, supportive environment. Cat believes all students can find success in visual arts- even if they don’t consider themselves an artist.
Cat’s past students have demonstrated their creativity through knitting, Photoshop, origami, drawing, painting, ceramics, to name a few. Students continue to develop new ways to express themselves and Cat is happy to help them along the way as they develop visual literacy.
Cat also teaches American Sign Language (ASL) and follows the Signing Naturally Curriculum. ASL is a great option for students who possess strong visual-spatial skills.
Cat received her BFA in Illustration with a minor in ASL from Columbia College Chicago, and went on to earn her M.Ed. in Art Education from the University of Minnesota.
