Leah is the Founder and Executive Director at Arete Academy which opened in 2014. She has worked with children and adults in various settings including schools, hospitals, and clinics. Her positions have included special education teacher for students with autism spectrum disorders, speech language pathologist and special education administrator. Prior to Arete, her last position was the Coordinator of the Autism Clinic and Diagnostician at the University of Minnesota. Leah has five children who joined her family from Korea through adoption. The school was inspired by her two amazing sons who are both twice exceptional learners.
Leah enjoys sharing her love of nature, music, different cultures and languages with the students at Arete Academy. In particular, she shares her love of animals by coordinating the Equine Assisted Learning program at Arete. Leah is committed to creating an environment for bright students who learn differently where they feel a sense of belonging, have the opportunity to build on their strengths and reach their fullest potential.
Leah has a B.A. in Elementary Education, a M.S. in Speech Language Pathology, and an Ed. D. in Child and Youth Leadership with a focus on special education.
