Max is a science teacher and program director at Arete. As a program director, Max coordinates a number of logistical processes, plays a role on the admissions team, supports continuous learning among staff, and actively pursues the continued development of 2e teaching strategies.
As a middle school and high school science teacher, Max encourages students to think critically and make evidence-driven claims. To quote Neil deGrasse Tyson, “The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it.” Max believes that every student can succeed in science class. Creative thinking, gathering data, making assumptions, and testing ideas are all natural processes. Max enjoys the wide world of science, but is most passionate about life sciences.
Max earned his B.A.Sc. in Teaching Life Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth and is currently pursuing a M.Ed. in Cognitive Science and Instructional Leadership from the American College of Education.
