Admissions
Are you wondering if Arete is the right fit for your student? At Arete, we offer a unique and nurturing environment that sets us apart from other schools. We collaborate closely with parents, teachers, and professionals to create a personalized learning experience where your student can thrive and grow. Our small community, focus on individual connections, and understanding of giftedness, learning differences, and asynchrony ensure that each student receives the support and attention they need to succeed.
Small Community Environment
Arete may be an ideal fit for students who thrive in a small learning environment with frequent individual interactions with teachers.
Giftedness
Students at Arete may or may not have been formally identified as gifted. However, through parent observations, teacher input and professional evaluations, it is clear our students are exceptionally bright.
Learning Differences
Many of our students have diagnoses or educational eligibility for conditions such as ADHD and learning differences, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, central auditory processing disorder, and dyscalculia. Anxiety is also common among our students.
Asynchrony
Parents, teachers, and professionals often observe significant differences between our students' abilities in different areas. This can manifest in various ways, such as a disparity between performance in math versus language arts, science versus art, or academic skills versus social and emotional skills.
Process
Are you ready to start the admissions process? Here are the steps we follow to ensure a smooth transition for your student.
Meet & Greet
1
Schedule a meeting and tour with our Leadership Team. An initial meeting and a tour of the school building often takes 30-45 minutes.
The 2e world includes a number of different learning profiles, academic strengths, talents, and differences in social/emotional development. Frankly, there isn't a single form detailed enough for us to really get to know a student.
Paperwork
2
We ask families to submit any evaluation reports, IEP/504 documentation, or other documents that will help us understand your child better. This may include report cards and standardized test results.
If you are unsure of what types of documents might be helpful, don't worry- that's a part of the meeting and tour with the Leadership Team.
Reference

Families should identfiy three or four professionals and/or educators who you feel have a good understanding of who your child is and their learning needs.

Spending time at Arete allows students to interact with current students, experience school expectations and the community as a whole. Students can also provide feedback to their families about their comfort and readiness to try a new school environment.
School visits provide an opportunity for teachers to get to know each prospective student on a more personal level and best determine if Arete can meet their social/emotional and academic needs.
Tuition
Tuition for the 2024 - 2025 school year is $27,800.
Arete Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we do our best to keep costs as low as possible- but 2e learners are challenging and expensive to educate. It actually costs us closer to $31,000 to educate each student and we rely on other streams of revenue, such as fundraising to balance the budget each year.
A limited amount of need-based financial aid is available each school year.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Arete Academy of Exceptional Education admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Arete Academy of Exceptional Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, or any other school-administered programs.
